The prince Hamlet does demonstrate the themes of revenge and madness greatly in the novel, but those themes occur because of his loyalty to his father. Hamlet shows loyalty to his father and the ghost as he wants to seek revenge through his madness.
Hamlet and Madness Essay Hamlet is one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays. Throughout Hamlet a lot of different things are going on and the main character Hamlet’s overall goal is to take revenge on his uncle, King Claudius. Hamlet finds out that his uncle killed his father and promises to avenge his father’s death.
After his pretence of madness, Hamlet found out that Ophelia betrayed him which hurt him deeply. In his quest for revenge, Hamlet killed Polonius, Ophelia’s father accidentally. In the end, Hamlet was killed by the sword of Laertes but he made sure that he killed King Claudius before his death.
Hamlet wants revenge for the murder of his father by Claudius, Hamlet’s uncle. The final revenge plot involves Laertes getting revenge against Hamlet for the death of Laertes’ father, Polonius.

Hamlet is a tragic portrayal of the older generation destroying the younger—first, by driving them into maddening circumstances (“he shall not choose but fall”, 4.7; “I cannot choose but weep”, 4.5), and, then, into the grave. It may even be argued that Hamlet and Ophelia are the two sanest characters in the play.
